Links are important because they show how popular your site is web-wide. The more incoming and outgoing links you have means Google will give your site more weight. So, you need to focus on getting more links to your site from other non-competitive yet complementary websites. If your site sells clothes, try and get links from sites that sell shoes or belts. The more links you have the higher your site will be ranked.

Another important element to focus on is keywords. Review the keywords that apply to your site and then include them throughout your site. You must optimize your site with keywords in order to get Google's attention and this can be done by using keyword articles. Have a variety of keyword articles written targeting different keywords and then include them on your website as the content or in an "articles" section. Your ranking will increase by focusing on keyword optimization.

Google also focuses on websites with constantly changing content. Because of this you need to constantly update and change your content with new keyword articles or perhaps include a blog where new content is posted regularly. If you don't update your content over time your site will slip in the Google rankings.

If you include all of these elements in your Google optimization campaign you will see your website increase in the rankings in a hurry, however remember there is new competition every day so you always need to focus on keeping your site updated, new, and with all the elements Google is looking for.
